* According to Southern Minnesota’s 2004 Region 9 demographics, 4,148 youth ages 5-20 have a disability.
*According to the 2000 Census, 53,600
non-institutionalized persons living in Region 9 have a disability.
Everyone deserves a chance to play . . .
In May 2007, The Miracle League of North Mankato was established.
With the help of dedicated volunteers and numerous companies, The Miracle League of North Mankato raised more than $650,000 and broke ground on the building of Fallenstein Field at Caswell Park in North Mankato at 9:30 a.m. on July 10th, 2007.
Fallenstein Field is the ONLY barrier free handi-capped and wheelchair accessible softball/baseball field in Minnesota that was built for children AND adults with all types of disababilities, giving everyone the opportunity to participate. Fallenstein Field was built according to National Wheelchair Softball Association (NWSA) specifications, providing opportunities for children & adults with all types of disabilities to actively participate in softball/baseball activities, including competitive wheelchair softball.
Fallensein Field was completed in July 2008 and a 5 team national adult wheelchair sotbal tournament was held July 26-27 2008.
A complete Spring 2009 schedule is anticipated.
